Dear Southgate Public School Parents/Guardians,
Southgate Public School is currently looking for one minority parent to serve on our Site-Based Decision Making (SBDM) Council. This committee of parents, teachers and administration work together to set school policies and make decisions to enhance student achievement.
The parent council member must be a parent, step parent, foster parent or legal guardian of a student currently attending Southgate Public School. Parents are considered ineligible to participate on council if he/she: is an employee or relative of any employee at Southgate Public School or the Central Office, is a member of the local Board of Education or married to a school board member.
If elected to the SBDM, members are required to attend six hours of training and three hours of additional training each additional year elected thereafter. SBDM meetings will take place during the school year, once per month (on the fourth Thursday) in the Southgate Public School Auditorium from 4:00 - 5:30 PM.
Parents may nominate themselves or another parent as a nominee for election to the council. All nominations must be received no later than December 19th, 2025. If you are interested in nominating yourself or another minority parent, please complete the nomination electronically through the link: https://tinyurl.com/SouthgateSBDM

Grades K-8: If you didn't turn in your permission slip this past Friday for the NKU field trip coming up next week, please make sure to return it signed first thing tomorrow morning to your teacher!
A few things to note in preparation for the trip:
1. This trip is completely free! NKU provides us free tickets for the game and our school will cover the cost of the busses.
2. Students will not be permitted to purchase anything from the concession stands or the gift shop while they are there. Please do not send money with them that day.
3. All students will receive a packed, bag lunch to eat during the game since we will be there mid-day.
4. We would love for everyone, staff and students alike, to wear their new Southgate TEAM shirts that day.
Go Norse!

Just a quick reminder that we are super pumped to celebrate with the Southgate community during our Southgate Spooktacular Parade tomorrow (10/31) from 1:15-1:45 PM.
Attached is our travel route. The school will walk together down the inner sidewalks around the designated loop. Stations (community business partners) will be set up along the way to collect candy. Families and other community members are welcome to set up along the viewing routes marked. We just ask that you set up either in grass areas or across the street (outer sidewalks) so that our parade walking path stays open and ready for the kiddos. If you have any questions, please contact the front office or email lois.ellison@southgate.kyschools.us.
